Bringing Back the Moustache - Chicks & Mo’s

» By Shipwreck - Nov 1st, 2007
Today marks the first day of Movember - the month in which men worldwide, young and old, grow (or at least attempt to grow) the iconic MOUSTACHE! Check out full details at http://www.movember.com.au/

So what’s the obsession with the ‘mo’ you may ask? Most ladies I know are not a fan of the hairy upper lip…they just don’t understand it. Well here’s a bit of insight into potential reasons why men ‘grow the mo’ -

  • they don’t have a top lip - and therefore need something to cover it up (pretty poor excuse if you ask me)
  • they see it as a feat - the ability to grow facial hair is highly regarded amongst other males (those that can’t grow facial hair are generally looked upon as ‘boyish’)
  • they want to imitate someone famous - Burt Reynolds, Adolf Hitler, Donald Sutherland, Danny Glover, Yosemite Sam, Charlie Chaplin to name just a few
  • or it just simply makes them look better (personally I think it can make a person look older)

In the name of prostate cancer, this month men across the world will be growing a moustache to raise funds for further research.

Ladies, I am keen to hear your feedback on the ‘mo’. Do you like them? Hate them? Don’t really care? I have one friend who refuses to kiss her boyfriend during Movember! Anyway, fill out your answer on the poll on the right and we’ll see what sort of response we get this month.

And yes……I will be posting photos of my mo-growing progress!

  1. hmmm.. personally I think they tickel and irritate… stubble is good on cheeks but the mo ist certainly not good for kissing! Love the cause tho and it is so much fun watching all your friends getting into it :)

  2. Anyone with a moustache has something to hide.

  3. I’m intrigued by the ’something to hide’ theory of the moustache, I’ve never heard that before. My partner had one for years!
